Located in the historic centre of Kyiv, Apartment 13 is a new concept store and café that marries a bohemian taste for vintage finds and characterful furnishings with an industrial aesthetic.
We decided to tripped down the space to its structural core to increase the ceiling height and highlight its raw beauty.
A subdued colour palette of sandstone walls, concrete floors and black-painted ceiling form a neutral backdrop for the selection of designer clothes, accessories, books, and perfumes for sale. Accents of reclaimed wood, brass and oxidized metal add texture to the interior, while terrazzo flooring demarcates the café area. An eclectic collection of art, vintage and antique furniture and decorative elements speak of the owner’s multicultural taste and extensive travels.
Carpets and chandeliers were bought in vintage markets in Paris, a decorative carved door came from India.
The coffee shop area in the Apartment 13 boutique is highlighted with a light terrazzo floor as opposed to the black ceiling.
The main decorative element is a cyan-colored panel with brass inserts and a restored wooden chest of drawers.
The accessories display table was made out of two workbenches salvaged from a 19th century factory.
